TeapotRoom was opened in March 2018 by **Eleni Vasilakou**, a former hotel pastry chef trained at the Cordon Bleu in London, and her partner **Bertrand Lemoine**, a tea sommelier from Lyon who spent six years sourcing leaf for a small Parisian importer. The pair met in Singapore at a Mariage Frères tasting in 2014 and decided, four years later, to open the kind of room they could not find in Thessaloniki — a place where a person could sit alone with a book and a single-estate Darjeeling without being rushed, and where a small group could share a proper three-tier afternoon tea on a Sunday afternoon. The room they chose, on the first floor of a 1928 mansion on Mitropoleos street near Aristotelous Square, has tall windows facing south, the original parquet floor, and seats only thirty-two
